Introduction:
As part of its R\&D team, our client is looking for a highly motivated Hardware Design engineer. Reporting to the R\&D Manager, you will work in an agile team of electrical, software and mechanical engineers. The engineer's responsibilities will mainly focus on product development and improvement. From the design phase to testing and validation, he/she ensures good quality of both product and required documents.
Key Responsibilities:
●Perform hardware design activities including electronic design, schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM creation, and PCB manufacturing package generation
● Perform circuit level design and testing for both analog and digital circuitry (filter design, signal
conditioning, optical/capacitive isolation, SMPS, current sensing, communication interfaces,
microcontrollers, etc.)
● Experience with different communication protocols and physical layers (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
● Design test stations for product debug and verification
● Select components (chips, passive \& active components, power components, etc.)
● Plan and perform board bring-up and testing for PCBA
● Prepare PCBA manufacturing package and support manufacturer
● Maintain documentation and prepare test plans
● Support the software development team on the hardware related tasks
● Conduct and document investigations of hardware anomalies and failures
● Stay up to date with the most recent technological advancement in electronic to apply to future product
developments
● Document the design, functionality and tests related to product development
● Adhere to health and safety rules (personal and equipment)
● Ensure to meet scheduled deadlines and report risks, problems and delays to the supervisor
Requirements:
●Holds a bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering with 3 years of experience
● Experience with circuit design and PCB layout using specialized software (e.g. Altium Designer, KiCAD)
● Hands on experience with lab measurement equipment
● Able to assemble and solder components
● Good analytical and problem-solving skills
● Autonomous, rigorous and results-oriented
● Holds a Canadian work permit
● Bilingualism (English, French) written and spoken
