Description
The Department of Research Centre in the Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 3 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
This position will work between 10-15 per week on site and is to assist in research related activities and to provide liaison with community partners.
Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Working in collaboration with the principal investigator on assigned tasks and duties
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation of ethics board applications
- Attend relevant training and information sessions (Tri-council information sessions, data coding tutorials, data coding software tutorials)
- Create and administer recruitment materials
- Demonstrates professional behaviour
- Application of study protocol by conducting interviews / focus groups in primarily online environments
- Organize and compile study data into relevant drives and folders
- Participate in research team meetings
- Conduct literature searches and write literature reviews
- Provide both verbal and written study updates to the research team and community partners
- Monitor project timelines to ensure that deadlines are met
- Other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or Research Associate and Coordinator
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, or social sciences preferred, Bachelor's degree required
- Strong interest and/or experience working with Black and racialized populations is a strong asset
- Intermediate to advanced skills in research methods (i.e., conducting qualitative research, recruitment, data collection, coding, and analysis
- Previous experiences using data analysis software (SPSS, Nvivo) is a strong asset
- Excellent time management skills
- Exceptional organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
- Experience with Zoom or Microsoft teams is required
- Knowledge of research ethics
- Experience using APA 7 formatting
