The Senior Manager, Corporate Finance is integral to the success of the Finance team and to CAAT's guiding mission and growth strategy.
The Senior Manager, Corporate Finance will oversee financial reporting and accounting related to pension plans, corporate tax filing and compliance, and payroll operations. This role emphasizes reviewing pension-related financial reporting, ensuring robust internal controls over payroll processing, and maintaining compliance with tax filing requirements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with expertise in pension accounting, regulatory compliance, and payroll control management. They will also possess strong leadership skills to drive operational excellence and deliver measurable results.
We are looking for someone with:
- Certified Professional Accounting (CPA) designation with eight (8) plus years of progressive experience in corporate finance, with a focus on pension accounting, financial reporting, and payroll.
- Proven experience in tax compliance and managing internal controls.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and operations; familiarity with Workday Payroll is an asset.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong technical expertise in pension accounting, including investment accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and review payroll processes and ensure compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to set priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in accounting systems/tools (e.g., ERP platforms such as SAP S4 Hana Public Cloud) and MS Office.
Once here you will:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and compliance of pension-related financial statements with IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant standards, ensuring accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Provide technical insights on complex pension accounting treatments, draft detailed accounting memos, and collaborate with actuaries and auditors for accurate valuation and disclosure.
- Monitor and enhance internal controls, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide insights into pension financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with evolving tax laws while coordinating with external advisors and auditors on complex tax matters and recommend and implement necessary corrective actions accordingly.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely compliance filings to mitigate risks and avoid penalties.
- Develop, review, and maintain payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance with policies, and timely disbursements in line with statutory and company requirements.
- Establish robust payroll controls to mitigate risks while collaborating with HR and IT to address system issues, enhance efficiencies, and improve the employee experience.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
- Lead initiatives to improve pension accounting, payroll operations, and tax compliance while driving efficiency in financial operations.
- Contribute to system implementations, process optimization, financial analysis, and ad hoc projects under the guidance of the Director of Corporate Finance.
