As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking a highly skilled and qualified mid-level Insurance Litigation Associate to join their team of experts in their Calgary office.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide legal analysis and advice in the areas of insurance defense and coverage.
- Conduct research and provide insightful analysis.
- Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, pre-trial memorandums, and mediation briefs.
- Prepare correspondence for opposing counsel and clients.
- Prepare for and attend discoveries and mediations.
- Appear in court to argue motions and other adjudicative hearings.
- Attend Alberta or Canadian Bar Association events for professional and business development.
- Perform various practice management tasks.
- Address other related business needs as they arise.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Graduate from a recognized University / Common Law School with a license to practice law in the Province of Alberta or another Canadian Province as a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta or another Provincial Law Society.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in private practice or in-house legal practice, with a focus on commercial litigation and insurance law.
- Exceptional legal writing and communication skills.
- Strong judgment and legal reasoning, excellent analytical capabilities, and creativity in problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans, present clear proposals to clients, and communicate instructions effectively.
- Proven advocacy skills.
- High integrity and intellectual rigor.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an entrepreneurial spirit with a keen interest in building client relationships.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
