On behalf of our Public Sector Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Category Manager (IT Procurement) to join our Client's team on a contract basis. This role is Remote, and the Client is based in Richmond, BC.
Summary of the Role:
The Category Manager will lead and support comprehensive IT procurement initiatives, including RFx processes, contract negotiations, vendor performance oversight, and stakeholder engagement. The scope includes sourcing and managing procurement for software, hardware, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and IT consulting services.
Duties \& Responsibilities:
- Manage full lifecycle procurement activities for IT categories.
- Lead strategic sourcing and vendor selection through RFx processes.
- Negotiate complex contracts, including licensing and service agreements.
- Draft and manage Statements of Work and support tender processes.
- Monitor vendor performance and support risk mitigation and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement with project goals.
Core Requirements:
- 7--10 years of experience in procurement and contracting.
- Minimum 2 years of direct IT procurement experience.
- Proven full-cycle procurement expertise, including strategy and vendor management.
- Experience managing solicitations and preparing Statements of Work.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
Desired Skills \& Experience:
- Experience in public sector procurement environments.
- Knowledge of procurement risk mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with vendor performance management practices.
- Exposure to cost control and earned value management.
- Background in large-scale infrastructure or transportation sectors.
Terms:
This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of extensions. The role is fully remote with no onsite presence required. Candidates must be based in Canada and available to work in the Pacific time zone. No background checks or reference verifications are required at this stage.
