About the Role
As a Corporate Accountant, you will focus on financial accounting and bookkeeping; bank, credit card and portfolio investment reconciliations; HST reporting; and preparation of year-end working papers.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in bookkeeping and reconciliations and a passion for accounting and organized record keeping.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and bookkeeping
• Prepare daily deposits in Yardi or Quickbooks
• Prepare cheque requisitions
• Prepare and print cheques required from QuickBooks
• Code corporate supplier invoices and forward to Accounts Payable for processing
• Input to Yardi or Quickbooks any manual cheques issued
• Enter investment broker statement activity in Quicken Investment software
• Prepare Quicken Investment Broker activity reports and record the monthly activity in Yardi or Quickbooks as required
• Prepare various journal entries for regular banking transactions and bank transfers in Yardi or Quickbooks
Reconciliations
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding deposits, stale-dated
• Complete monthly Credit card expense allocation sheet for credit cards
• Prepare reports and reconciliations for monthly HST filing
• Reconcile investment income at calendar year-end to corresponding T-slips
Year-end close
• Preparation of year-end working paper files, consolidated financial statement working papers
• Record Auditor's adjusting entries
• Handle additional ad hoc requests as needed.
Qualifications \& Skills
• Education: Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or a related field; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of accounting functions to financial statement preparation and year-end working paper file preparation stage; excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel
• Communication \& Presentation: Maintain confidentiality of information; use tact and discretion; interact effectively with supervisors, employees, and the general public.
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data entry and recording; proofread documents.
• Proactive and self-motivated: perform assigned duties with a minimum of supervision; work effectively despite interruptions; plan, organize, and prioritize work.
