The opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Cloud Engineering, we are hiring a Cloud Engineer to support the design, build, and continuous evolution of our infrastructure and cloud services. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of both cloud and on-premise systems across the organization.
You will lead infrastructure alignment efforts across new and existing acquisitions, upgrading systems to meet evolving business needs for performance, availability, security, and scalability. Your work will directly support WELL's mission to deliver world-class digital healthcare experiences.
This is a remote position with flexible hours required to support our business units across multiple time zones.

You will:
- Design and implement robust infrastructure solutions. You will build, deploy, and support scalable, secure, cost-effective infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Ensure stability and performance. You will analyze and resolve complex infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and proactively identify improvements to increase system reliability and availability.
- Automate and optimize.You will implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform, integrate CI/CD pipelines, and pursue automation opportunities that accelerate delivery and reduce manual intervention.
- Support infrastructure operations.You will monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure systems, participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure continuous system uptime.
- Collaborate cross-functionally.You will partner with developers, SREs, and third-party vendors to deliver infrastructure solutions that support business applications, acquisitions, and innovation initiatives.
- Maintain compliance and governance.You will support audit and certification efforts (SOC2, ISO27001), ensuring all systems adhere to security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Document and standardize.You will create detailed documentation of systems and procedures to support training, knowledge sharing, and operational consistency across the Infrastructure and Operations Engineering team.
You bring:
- The infrastructure expertise. You have a strong background in infrastructure operations, with a proven ability to support both on-premise and public cloud environments. You are proficient in designing, deploying, and managing secure, resilient, and scalable systems. You have extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, using Terraform, and CI/CD using tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Azure DevOps. You are familiar with infrastructure lifecycle management, ITSM practices, and thorough documentation. You have experience working with Kubernetes and containerized deployment strategies. You are proficient with both Windows Server and Linux (preferably Ubuntu), and possess scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash. You are familiar with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, or Datadog.
- The cloud expertise. You have hands-on experience with either AWS, Azure, or GCP --- and hold (or are working towards) associate-level certifications. You have a strong understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and hybrid connectivity. You understand and apply cloud security principles (IAM, RBAC), and have experience working with next-generation firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, FortiGate). Familiarity with security tools like Wiz, Orca, or Ox is a plus. You design and operate infrastructure with security top of mind --- ensuring systems are secure by design, resilient, and compliant.
- The automation mindset. You look for ways to automate manual tasks, reduce toil, and increase efficiency through infrastructure as code and continuous integration pipelines. You build reusable modules, optimize for performance, and create scalable solutions that evolve with business needs.
- The operational discipline. You value clear documentation, repeatable processes, and operational excellence. You have experience working within ITSM frameworks, change management practices, and infrastructure lifecycle management. You are comfortable balancing the speed of delivery with the need for governance, risk management, and compliance.
- The drive. You translate large challenges into smaller, actionable tasks and execute them with precision. You are willing to dive in, figure things out, and adapt quickly --- whether the solution requires technology, process improvement, or a human-centred approach.
- The flexibility.You understand the nature of cloud engineering and infrastructure operations and are ready and willing to work outside your time zone's standard business hours when needed --- supporting a globally distributed team and business.
- Next-generation tooling with AI. You have exposure to modern AI tools, platforms or frameworks and understand how AI/ML/LLM capabilities can integrate into infrastructure operations. You stay informed about evolving technologies and are eager to explore how these capabilities can support operations, improve efficiency or unlock new ways of working.
