Join us in our mission to become the leading car accessory brand in North America. Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Tooling Design Engineer Manager to lead the design, development, and optimization of molds used in thermoforming and compression molding processes.
This role will be critical in ensuring high-quality, precise, and efficient tooling solutions for our automotive floor mat production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tool \& die engineering, CAD modeling, and manufacturing process integration, with a focus on designing durable and high-performance molds for thermoformed products. Responsibilities:Lead the design and development for precision tooling (dies, molds, and fixtures) for thermoformed and compression-molded automotive components.
Create and refine CAD models and technical drawings for tooling, ensuring manufacturability and efficiency in the production process. Develop and implement additive manufacturing parameters to enhance mold quality, reduce production time, and minimize material waste. Conduct trials to assess mold performance, analyze results, and implement necessary design or process adjustments.
Approve and refine tooling specifications, tolerances, and performance expectations. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize mold designs for cost-effective and high-quality production. Select appropriate materials for tool \& die fabrication, considering durability, thermal conductivity, and mold life.
Conduct feasibility studies and design validation to ensure tooling meets required tolerances and performance expectations. Optimize mold performance by analyzing cycle times, part quality, and thermal management. Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance tooling durability, reduce maintenance downtime, and improve part quality.
Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for tooling-related production issues. Maintain detailed records of design iterations, DFMEA, root cause analysis, process parameters, and testing outcomes to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharingResearch and integrate emerging tooling technologies, automation, and advanced manufacturing methodsQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool \& Die Engineering, or a related field.8 years of experience in tool \& die design, specifically for thermoforming \& compression molding.2 years in leadership/management role. Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or CATIA) for designing complex tooling geometries.
Experience with CNC machining, mold fabrication, and tooling validation processes. Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams. Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools for mold performance evaluation is a plus.
Strong knowledge of polymer material properties and their implications on mold performance is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot tooling-related manufacturing challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. TuxMat is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
