Our client is a respected nonprofit arts and culture organization currently undergoing a transformation within its finance department under the leadership of a newly appointed Interim CFO. The organization is now seeking a Finance Consultant to work closely with the CFO to stabilize, streamline, and enhance its financial operations.
This role is ideal for a seasoned and resourceful accounting professional who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving process improvements, and leading clean-up initiatives. You'll be instrumental in establishing new workflows and ensuring best practices are implemented throughout the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Interim CFO to rebuild and stabilize the finance department
- Lead the clean-up and improvement of current accounting systems and workflows
- Develop and implement a structured month-end close process with appropriate controls
- Execute monthly close procedures, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
- Review and enhance invoice approval processes and other key operational accounting areas
- Provide expert accounting guidance to support system alignment with industry best practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders involved in Dynamics 365 implementation and financial reporting improvements
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance operations
- Proven track record managing month-end close, reconciliations, and improving financial processes
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with senior leadership
- Experience working in transitional finance environments or previous consulting experience is a strong asset
- CPA designation is an asset but not required
