Purpose of the Position
Reporting directly to the EVP, Chief Commercial Officer, the Director, Global Education Sales, inspires, motivates and leads a global team of Regional Solutions Managers and Consultants that are responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets while maintaining high adoption, renewal, professional development and expansion rates in our key company verticals.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with your fellow sales leaders and the UCE Leadership team to develop and execute a strategy that enables SMART to deliver exceptional results to our customers. Additionally, you will coordinate team activities with key stakeholders cross-functionally to ensure broad understanding and alignment to the needs of the Global Education Sales Team
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Regional Solution Managers and subject matter experts with advanced knowledge in their fields of expertise including but not limited to education, professional development, business and public sector practice
- Work effectively and collaboratively with other UCE leaders and teams to develop and execute a global sales strategy that is aligned to SMART's overall company goals
- Guide, support and develop the Regional Solution Managers in providing best practice leadership to their teams, maintaining high levels of employee engagement
- Build and educate on messaging that supports and differentiates the expertise SMART brings to the customer experience in each of our verticals
- Work with your team to strengthen SMART's global leadership position in education and other identified verticals in alignment with corporate strategy.
- Collaborate with the Regional Sales Directors to create a joint team environment that supports working effectively together to win
- Collect, analyze and report on data that measures the impact of the team and make necessary improvements.
- Manage team budget and expenditures, ensuring effective usage of funds and efficient allocation of resources
- Proactively identify and act on opportunities for differentiation from our competitors
- Maintain current understanding of local, state, and federal funding opportunities and drive the team's strategy to capture available funds
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with key customer accounts
- Stay up to date with industry trends and product developments to provide expert advice to clients.
- Support the UCE with demonstrations to key customer and in large opportunities
- Ensure you team exemplifies SMART's purpose and promise in all of their interactions
- Drive the team towards regular, standardized, timely, accurate usage of Salesforce and Gainsight to ensure system hygiene
- Foster strong, collaborative, cross-functional relationships with all internal stakeholders.
- Oversee hiring, skills development and strategic resource planning to meet the requirements of your team now and in the future
- Effectively lead the team, inspiring commitment to high performance and genuine adherence to SMART's Values and Behaviour Framework.
- Ensure timely, appropriate recognition for high performing team members and implement performance management actions when needed.
- Serve as a member of the UCE Leadership team, with regular accountability and interaction with the Executive Team.
- Performing other duties as required
Education and work experience
- Degree in business, marketing, or a related field
- 10+ years' experience in sales related to the specialized area, with a successful, fast-paced company
- Strong education acumen and/or former teaching experience
- Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency with technology and ability to learn and adapt to new technology
- Ability to present in front of large groups with confidence and knowledge of both hardware and software as presentation tools
- Proven aptitude for developing and growing relationships with key decision makers
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence in building relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lead motivate and inspire others to high level of performance and engagement
- Ability to work autonomously with a high level of self-motivation
- Eager and willing to generate new ideas and approaches to problems
- Strong time-management, ability to manage work in multiple time zones
- Desire to work for a purpose driven organization and make connections that matter everyday
- A valid passport, or no impediment to obtaining one, extensive travel globallly
- A valid driver's license

- This position has direct reports
Working conditions
- Home-based role, fast-paced work environment
- Global travel up to 60% of time depending on the time of year
- Position can be located in North American or globally in one of our SMART Hub locations
