Join Alectra as a Specialist, Commodity Management. In this role, you will initiate strategic purchasing initiatives with the objective of optimizing the supply base and enhancing the operating profit to meet business objectives. This position implements procurement strategies, defines preferred vendor relations and leads negotiations on contractual agreements and contract management. This position also integrates procurement in the project management process and aligns procurement initiatives with project objectives.
What you'll do
- Leads all contractual negotiations and tendering in relation to cost, price and availability of materials and services.
- Assumes responsibility for the selection process and establishment of preferred vendor agreements and is responsible for the communication between internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Builds and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders and preferred suppliers.
- Conducts internal and market demand analysis for all materials and services as part of category planning activities.
- Provides ongoing support to internal purchasing resources regarding any issues related to materials, vendor and purchase orders.
- Manages contracts on supplier performance and evaluation of services. Generates KPI reports and reports on procurement savings on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure price and material accessibility are outlined prior to final design approval.
- Conducts proactive risk management with all external engagements and ensuring resources, activities and information for each project meet the requirements and deadlines.
- Provides technical expertise in the planning, design and implementation of projects and key initiatives.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline or automate processes to continuously improve service delivery.
- Ensures compliance to legislative, regulatory and Health \& Safety policies, procedures and standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Who you are
Education \& Specialized Knowledge
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of procurement, sourcing and contracting best practices, activities and processes.
- Contract law and mediation skills in contract management.
- Strong grasp of category management principles.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and web based purchasing applications.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in Procurement in commodity/category management role or in a senior procurement role.
- Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset.
- Strong leadership and negotiations skills with proven contract administration experience.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions to complex technical issues.
- Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an organized and concise way.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must hold and maintain a valid class "G" driver's license.

- Hybrid: This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work. In-office presence is required two times per week to support team collaboration and business needs.
