Manager, Commercial Liability Claims
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Commercial Liability Claims Manager,to support the insurance, risk management and claims functions. Our Client is one of Canada's largest Real Estate investment management firms. The ideal candidate would be responsible for the intake, review and investigation of Commercial General Liability and Occupier's Liability incidents and claims. They will be investigating the circumstances of insurance incidents by consulting with internal and external stakeholders, including internal teams, third party claim adjusters, insurers, in house examiners and defense counsels.

Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise the progression of liability claims throughout various stages of the litigation process.
- Evaluate each claim to assess quality and determine its significance.
- Review claims investigated by insurance adjusters and make decisions on outcomes.
- Collaborate with claims adjusters, examiners, and legal counsel members.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as property management and construction, to gather documentation and brief on relevant information.
- Manage claims database and filing database using relevant softwares to ensure accessibility of files during and after settlements.
- Support the development and maintenance of risk management protocols and information systems, ensuring they are regularly updated and clearly communicated to internal teams.
- Conduct thorough research to aid the Head of Insurance in proposing and implementing risk transfer strategies, including self-insurance and self-funding options.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in the insurance market through various sources such as industry publications, webinars, surveys, and professional associations.
- Assist in overseeing the insurance budget, ensuring alignment with the company's financial objectives.
- Execute subrogation processes to recover costs from other insurers when third-party negligence is involved.
- Continuously update and deepen your knowledge of insurance and risk management to improve decision-making capabilities.
- Facilitate effective communication of risk management updates and procedures to all relevant internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends to provide informed recommendations for risk management and insurance strategies.
Qualifications
- At least five years of professional experience, including a minimum of two years managing litigation, particularly in commercial general liability claims.
- Preference for candidates with, or working towards, a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
- Strong understanding of case laws pertaining to commercial general liability claims.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with all management levels.
- Outstanding analytical and prioritization skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and capacity to thrive under pressure.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- Excellent relationship management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in computer skills and softwares.
