Overview Security Officer
This position has a regular fixed schedule of Monday -- Friday (3:30pm -- 11:30 pm) in Kanata.
Security Responsibilities
- Supports and administers organizational security plans and operations
- Executes procedures and processes to provide physical protection for personnel and company property and meet required codes and regulations
- Compiles data for loss control and accident reports
- Supports and conducts internal investigations in accordance with legal requirements and company policies
- Maintains records, manuals and documentation
- Access control /ID badge / Key management / Visitor Management / Video Surveillance
- Foot Patrols Int (>150 000 sq.ft) and Ext. campus (Bylaw parking authority)
- Video surveillance
- Incident Reporting (Criminal, Medical, suspicious, equip/power failure, etc.)
- Provides back-up to the shipping/receiving dept.
- Main Reception / additional switchboard coverage, such as answers questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information; welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel and operate Mitel's multi-line operator system including answer incoming calls; directs callers to appropriate personnel and/or department, set up conference calls, etc.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Emergency Response Responsibilities
- Fire Warden -- acts as direct contact representing Mitel during an evacuation and liaison with the landlord's emergency brigade. Training will be required
- Coordinate with other fire wardens for local training
- Lead and execute evacuations, ensuring safety of all staff
Facilities Responsibilities
- Respond to staff submitted issues, i.e. Temperature requests, cleaning, overhead lighting issues, etc.
- Manage repairs and various issues including plumbing, leaks, broken windows, insects, etc.
- Maintain orderly appearance and function of conference rooms
- Maintain Facilities standards and guidelines are followed as set out by Manager Global Real Estate
- Any special projects or assignments assigned by Manager Global Real Estate
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Two-year diploma / certificate from college or technical school; or above in related field of study
- Licensed as Security Guard in Ontario (we reimburse annual renewal)
- First Aid / CPR / AED certified (if not current, we will provide)
- 5 years' Security experience
- Dependable (attendance/punctuality is extremely important in this role); and highly organized with business maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Self-motivated individual needing little supervision
- Able to perform light lifting to stock supplies as needed / setting up for events / e-waste removal, etc.
- Proficient with MS Office
- Proficient verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with staff of all levels.
