The Business Development Manager serves as the commercial lead for East West, with a primary focus on driving sales and business development efforts for sales in the Industrial market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and drive sales and business development efforts across all East West services, working closely with cross-functional teams to align with customer needs and increase the company's ability to win business.
- Identify and validate profitable business opportunities by targeting ideal customers that fit the company's strategic objectives. Proactively prospect and cold call to qualify potential accounts and maintain a thorough understanding of current and prospective customers.
- Build and nurture multi-level relationships with external customers and internal teams, collaborating with departments like manufacturing and engineering to deepen customer relationships and understand the company's end-to-end value stream.
- Leverage deep market sector knowledge and industry trends to inform business development strategies and establish credibility with target customers. Stay updated on market trends, competition, and customer needs to support and execute sector-specific marketing strategies in collaboration with marketing and leadership teams.
- Develop and oversee account strategies to create mutual value for East West and customers. Partner with key account leaders to translate customer needs into solutions that align with company capabilities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for headquarters, managing reporting on quote activity, financial performance, and other business metrics.
- Support the customer quote team as needed, including margin reviews, resource allocation, and ensuring quote turnaround times are met.
- Lead the development and management of both direct sales and indirect representatives, ensuring the growth and development of the overall sales pipeline.
- Attend and participate in the monthly financial performance review with HQ, providing insights into sales performance and customer opportunities.
- Collaborate with the VP and SVP of Global Sales and marketing teams to refine and implement business development strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Contribute to the QBR (Quarterly Business Review) process with key customers, focusing on new opportunities and organic growth discussions as part of the QBR format.
- Execute and review legal documents such as NDAs and MSAs as needed, and represent the commercial team in discussions of strategic significance with HQ.
- Become a power user of Salesforce, ensuring the platform is utilized effectively for business development and pipeline management.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE \& SKILLS
- College degree, technical or engineering degree, ideal.
- The ideal candidate must have 7-10 years of progressive experience selling EMS-Electrical Manufacturing Systems.
- Experience closing multi-million dollar programs.
- Bilingual in French and English preferred
- Familiarity with Canadian OEM customers (Ottawa area and Quebec)
- Market sector proficiency -- Industrial
- Resident of Ontario or Quebec
- A team player with the ability to operate in a matrixed organization
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel 25% of the time or as required.
