Role Overview
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will be part of the Digital Engineering Operations team, responsible for ensuring the operations and reliability of the Bank's non-authenticated web pages. You will help enhance the availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of Scotia Digital services, improve application monitoring, resolve production issues, and implement customer analytics tagging.
Responsibilities
- Lead analysis initiatives to improve application reliability.
- Manage incidents, problems, and implement SRE practices.
- Enhance monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility.
- Deploy code packages securely using approved platforms.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Foster a customer-focused culture to strengthen client relationships.
- Provide support as a subject matter expert.
- Lead severity 1 incidents and communicate effectively during major outages, including on-call duties.
- Coordinate with technology partners, staff, vendors, and leadership.
- Align daily activities with risk management and compliance standards.
- Gather and refine technical specifications and requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience building automated production monitoring/support models and integrating tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, NewRelic, etc.
- Proven incident resolution and root cause analysis skills.
- Deep understanding of Google SRE practices, ITIL, and at least 2+ years in an SRE role.
- Knowledge of customer-impacting technologies, infrastructure, and processes.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise across diverse groups.
- Experience with modern JS frameworks (preferably React), analytics tags, DevOps tools (Git, CI/CD pipelines), application security, NodeJS, REST APIs, HTML/CSS, and object-oriented and functional programming.
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, GKE, Azure, PCF is a plus.
- Strong logical thinking and a curious, innovative mindset.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field.
- Experience in accessible web applications and OAuth authentication is advantageous.
