Job title: Analyst, Digital \& Payments Policy

Reports to: Director, Digital Policy \& Vice President, Payments Policy
Overview
The Analyst, Digital \& Payments Policy will provide essential support across two dynamic departments within the Payments \& Digital Division. Working closely with division Advisors, leadership, internal teams, and member banks, the Analyst will contribute to developing and advancing public policy, legislative, and regulatory matters related to the rapidly evolving digital and payments landscape.
This role involves research, analysis, coordination, and communication to support policy work and the associated advocacy with federal and provincial governments, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and enthusiastic about emerging financial technologies and policy development.
Key Focus Areas
You will contribute to advancing industry understanding and policy development in the digital and payments areas. This will cover a number of issues, including, but not limited to:
- Consumer-driven banking (open banking)
- Digital currencies and wallets
- Payments modernization (e.g., Real-time Rail)
- Artificial intelligence
- Emerging trends and developments, including regulatory developments both domestically and internationally
Description of Responsibilities
- Conduct research and provide analysis to support policy development and advocacy positions
- Assist in drafting industry submissions, policy papers, and consultation responses
- Monitor and report on emerging provincial, national and international trends in financial services as they relate to digital and payments policy in Canada and recommend strategies for the banking industry
- Conduct jurisdictional scans of legislation and regulation relevant to digital and payments policy
- Support collaboration and information-sharing across internal divisions and with external stakeholders
- Prepare briefing materials and create compelling, data-driven presentations
- Contribute to special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Payments and Digital leadership team
Key Qualifications, Abilities and Skills
- 1--3 years of experience in a policy, regulatory, or research-oriented role (experience in financial services or banking is an asset)
- Foundation understanding of digital and payments policy issues in the financial sector
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
- Proficiency in developing high-quality written materials and presentations to support advocacy efforts
- Familiarity with public policy and legislative development processes
- Ability to provide initial assessment of policy and legislative proposals and evaluate their impact on the industry
- A strong team player who works well with others both internally and externally
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex policy concepts for diverse audiences
- Understand and synthesize stakeholder views and positions on industry issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
