Responsibilities
- Work as part of a large project team, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction superintendents, to provide clients with the industry's best in engineering and construction.
- Prepare technical specifications and interface with construction partners.
- Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
- Prepare design documents and drawings, including one and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plan, section and detail drawings and application of mark-ups for project built drawings.
- Mentor and guide design coordinators, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of design standards, applicable engineering codes, and company guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
- Apply engineering application softwre to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
- Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to specify electrical components and equipment, ensuring they meet project requirements.
- Participate in meetings to discuss project scope, deliverables, and technical requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an CEAB accredited four-year college or university program required.
- P.Eng strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years' experience as an electrical engineer in the substation industry.
- Proficiency with basic computer operation and standard software tools. Should have completed some introductory computer programming courses, as well as the ability to use design software tools.
- Experience in field construction work is a plus.
