Description
The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for two (2) Research Assistant(s). This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 3 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Responsible for accurate, organized and reproducible data acquisition
- Successfully implement an established research proposal
- Provide assistance with the development and implementation of animal care and project protocols; Assist with the design and implementation of research methods, including standard operating procedures and data collection protocols in consultation with the PI
- Work as a team member with PIs, technical staff, and other trainees
- Keep a daily laboratory notebook of all activities
- Prepare weekly written summaries, tables, and graphics of research results for project reports, posters and scientific presentations, and for manuscripts for publication
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of immunology, molecular biology
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
- Must be detailed oriented and perform basic tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to follow strict laboratory methodologies routinely
- Responsive to the requirements of other researchers in a laboratory setting
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
