Title: Bilingual Risk and Insurance Claims Specialist
Reports To: Manager, Insurance \& Risk Management
Work Type: Hybrid (3 days a week in the office)
Summary:The Bilingual Risk and Insurance Claims Specialist will have responsibility for supporting CAPREIT's Insurance and Risk Management programs with a focus on claims management and administration.
Responsibilities:
Claims Administration
- Monitors and actions incident reports/claims on internal claims system
- Manages property and liability claims
- Ensures timely and appropriate documentation, settlement and closure
- Prepares releases when required and coordinates claim settlements.
- Coordinates communications and documentation flow between site operations, our TPA, insurers, and legal counsel.
- Manages the pursuit of subrogation and recovery claims against third party insurers.
- Manages communications with third party claims administrator, insurers and vendors, as well as site operations to reach optimal outcomes.
- Works with accounting to processes incoming and outgoing payments.
- Reviews and analyzes incident and claims data for trends, determining possible risk control activities for CAPREIT.
- Prepares monthly loss reports for CAPREIT shareholders.
Risk Management Administration
- Supports insurance renewal though documentation and tracking.
- Manages tracking, analyzing and reviewing tenant insurance data.
- Supports Operations with optimizing tenant insurance participation and compliance across all properties.
- All other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of property/casualty claims experience is an asset.
- Insurance or risk management related courses (CIP/CRM) completed or in process is an asset.
- Ability and comfort in reviewing insurance and contractual documents is an asset
- Flexibility -- CAPREIT is a very active organization -- ability to multitask, self-regulate and prioritize.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in team environments and with remote team members.
- Excellent written and oral communication in French and English required.
