Oversee select frontlist books (primarily picture books, graphic novels, and other illustrated books) from first typeset pages through to softproofs (including copyediting, proofreading, page layout), ensuring books are of the highest quality and ready for press.

Circulate typeset pages to authors and illustrators and to editors and art director for review, incorporate all feedback and resolve any queries.

Revise and maintain project schedules for assigned books. Communicate proactively with the Senior Managing Editor and Project Editor to ensure each project is on track. Troubleshoot solutions to any issues.

Create Profit and Loss (P\&L) sheets, handle cost management for assigned books and support Managing Editor with additional P\&Ls as needed.

Update title/specifications information and ensure data integrity for each season's assigned books prior to publication.

Assist the Senior Managing Editor with coordinating freelance projects by scheduling and booking freelance copyeditors and proofreaders.

Handle reprint titles of Tundra Book Group's extensive backlist (creating reprint P\&Ls, checking files, making corrections, reviewing/approving changes).

Two years of education or experience in children's book publishing or a related field in an editorial or production-editorial capacity.

Superb copyediting and proofreading skills, with an in-depth knowledge of markup tools and standards in Adobe Acrobat, proficiency with the Chicago Manual of Style, and the capacity to adjust and learn additional editorial standards such as Gregory Younging's Elements of Indigenous Style.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, working well under pressure, and consistently meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.

A proactive and efficient approach to problem solving.

Sound knowledge of the publishing industry, with a strong understanding of best practices in design and copy layout, file management, production process, and printing conventions.

Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team that spans all levels of the organization.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro and experience using collaborative tools such as Teams, Asana, etc.
