This role involves managing daily accounting tasks, including recording financial transactions, updating the general ledger, and preparing trial balances for controller review. Responsibilities also encompass reconciling income statements and balance sheets, preparing outstanding accounts receivable invoices, and following up with existing customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full cycle accounting and/or bookkeeping, preferably within the technology industry, and exhibit a proactive approach to managing essential financial functions.
This is a full-time, in-person role located in our Toronto office.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Process and record daily accounts payable and receivable transactions, categorizing invoices, payables, and expenses, and ensuring proper evidence is recorded.
- Perform month-end bank and credit card reconciliations, along with related analysis, to maintain precise financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for management and external accountants.
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the correct accounts, customer/supplier ledgers, and general ledgers.
- Prepare, review, and submit sales tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Analyze financial statements and transactions to determine tax liabilities, maintain accurate and organized records, and address any tax-related issues or audits.
- Manage all payroll activities including calculating deductions, processing reimbursements, and managing remittances to ensure timely and accurate payment to employees.
- Respond to inquiries from suppliers and customers regarding their invoices and payments.
- Collaborate with management and internal teams to ensure compliance and support intercompany financial operations across all business units in Canada and US.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS \& REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or working towards completion.
- At least 5 years of full-cycle accounting and/or bookkeeping experience in the technology sector.
- Proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks Cloud and Microsoft Dynamics is highly preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and thrive in a dynamic working environment.
- Effective time management skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
