The successful candidate will be part of our Lithium group, focusing on designing cutting-edge Lithium battery solutions for various applications, from motive power to green energy grid storage. Experience in designing small signal analog and digital electronics and power electronics with high reliability and safety is required, especially for products like Stryten's battery management systems. The role involves hardware design, troubleshooting, and supporting manufacturing, working independently and in teams through all project phases. The position is based in Ottawa, ON.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electronics for new and existing products.
- Analyze, simulate, test, and debug analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Create hardware specifications and documentation.
- Develop schematics, PCB layouts, CCA drawings, and BOMs using industry-standard tools.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with mechanical and software teams.
- Develop and execute hardware integration, verification, validation, and qualification plans.
- Conduct tests, analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Work with external labs for testing and qualification to various standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manage component obsolescence.
- Participate in DFM, DTC, and FMEA activities to ensure cost-effective and reliable designs.
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge of power electronics, mixed signal electronics, and energy storage technologies.
- Experience with high voltage/high-power electronics is an asset.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools like Altium or OrCAD.
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD (SolidWorks or similar).
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.

Physical Demands \& Work Environment
- Physical activities include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, walking, and other mobility tasks.
- Work environment includes office and periodic visits to industrial sites with exposure to batteries, fumes, noise, and dirt.
- Occasional international travel (2-3 times/year, 3-5 days each).
