Responsibilities
Maintenance Mechanic/Set Up Technician

We produce the best peanut butter by roasting and grinding peanuts and other raw ingredients on a fully automated line, including a filler, capper, labeler, and pallet wrapper, shipping globally.
Location: 70 West Drive, Brampton
Hourly Rate Range: $25-$35/hour
Shift: Training on dayshift, then move to afternoon or night shift as needed.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Setup and Operations Technician ensures smooth production, maintains equipment, and adheres to safety standards. Collaborates with Production \& QA Supervisors and operators to boost productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow SOPs to perform equipment changeovers efficiently during product transitions, ensuring minimal downtime and compliance with safety standards.
- Attend to equipment repairs and troubleshoot malfunctions promptly; perform routine inspections.
- Review productivity reports to identify and react to equipment downtime issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues (up to 120V) using multimeters, replacing fuses and sensors as needed.
- Regularly inspect, clean, and lubricate machinery for optimal performance.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on plant and building equipment.
- Monitor production for hazards, damage, or abnormalities, reporting findings regularly.
- Maintain documentation of work orders and maintenance activities in the CMMS.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and waste reduction projects.
- Prioritize safety, adhere to protocols, and address safety concerns immediately.
- Collaborate with team members and management to coordinate activities.
- Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to machinery as needed.
- Conduct basic building maintenance tasks such as drywall repairs and painting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and shop area.
- Respond to issues promptly using Redzone.
- Follow safety procedures like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Uphold food safety and GMP standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned; some travel may be required.
Education and Experience:
- At least 2 years of mechanical/technical experience in food production manufacturing.
- Manual dexterity for operating machinery and tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Millwright/Electrical ticket is an asset.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, plumbing, welding, and fabrication.
- Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and chemical disciplines.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressed air safety.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Experience with high-speed packaging machinery and PLCs.
- Forklift and high-reach certification.
- Problem-solving skills, organizational ability, and stress management.
- Excellent English communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, bending, climbing stairs/ladders, crawling, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 500 pounds, twisting, and bending.
- Work in dusty, wet environments with temperature fluctuations and loud noise, requiring hearing and eye/foot protection.
