Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is the primary sales contact for all assigned warehouse distributors within their area and a secondary contact for jobbers. The role requires being centrally located within a territory that spans multiple cities or states. This is a road warrior position that may involve travel outside the area based on business needs.
Primary Duties
- Drive sales, profitability, and awareness of Dorman Products within the territory to support business plan achievement.
- Work with current and potential customers to gain new distribution and optimize inventory/deployment.
- Maintain relationships with accounts to ensure proper presentation and promotion of Dorman's products.
- Maintain regular contact with customers and represent Dorman at events.
- Assist with pull-through support such as training, market blitzes, and changeovers.
- Proactively communicate competitive risks, opportunities, and new product ideas to corporate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-starter thriving in a remote environment.
- Fact-based competitive selling experience and strong presentation skills.
- Ability to travel 50% or more, including weekends.
- Capability to lift 250 pounds.
- Physical ability to perform reaching, swiveling, carrying, speaking, and listening tasks in moderate noise conditions.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with warehouse distributors, jobbers, or technicians (preferred).
