About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Commissioner, Development \& Infrastructure Services, the Director, Planning \& Building Services is responsible for the strategic leadership, implementation and delivery of activities in Planning \& Building Services, including development and recommendation to Council of planning policies and long-range strategies to guide the growth of the municipality.

Job Requirements
Credentials
Post-secondary degree in urban planning, environmental studies or related discipline.
Holds designation as a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
Class "G" Driver's License in good standing and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Information Check satisfactory to the Town is required. Professional designations that include a Police Information Check will be considered.
Knowledge/Skills Required
Progressively responsible experience at a senior supervisory level.
Significant demonstrated planning and administrative experience in a municipal planning environment at a senior level.
Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, collaborative, project management, problem-solving, conceptual, research, analytical and presentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and management.
Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and geographic information systems.
Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, construction drawings and engineers' reports.
Strong knowledge of principles and processes associated with complex site plans, subdivision process, zoning bylaws and Official Plans.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret the Building Code as it applies to construction projects such as fire protection and occupancy, safety and accessibility, structural design, heating ventilation, plumbing, sewage systems, renovations and electrical systems.
Demonstrated working knowledge of building construction and systems, regulations and building / property standards; working knowledge of local government functions and responsibilities, provincial government and associated agencies as they relate to municipal building responsibilities, the legal process as it relates to building prosecutions, and employee relations principles, practices and applicable legislation.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act.
