Career Opportunity What You Will Do
- Identify system specifications based on end-user needs and analysis. Plan, develop, and coordinate implementation activities for end user computer and software systems and procedures in accordance with TTC's methodology.
- Manage department level information technology processes and requirements in MAXIMO enterprise asset management (EAM).
- Provide system and hardware support for department including troubleshooting various issues.
- Ensure procedures and processes are adhered to and supported documentation is in place for successful systems deployment to the production or Quality Assurance (QA) environment.
- Liaise with various stakeholders including TTC's ITS department regarding technical requirements, or to provide quality customer support and end-user technical support services.
- Evaluate requests for new information systems or revisions to current systems; ensuring project designs and applications are practical and feasible, and assessing the potential impact on other systems within the Commission.
- Manage work orders and conduct feasibility studies for systems projects.
- Prepare cost/benefit justification prior to the acquisition of new computer equipment; and arranging for the installation of purchased and reallocated equipment.
- Act as a consultant or instructor on the new technologies available to the users, or provides training and support to designated staff.
- Design, develop and test proposals, forms, workflows, business processes, data models, business requirements and system specifications.
- Research and report on operational procedural problems, directing project teams and managing departmental contract initiatives.
- Write and Maintain end-user documentation and operating manuals for the Department systems/processes in a standardized format.
- Act as a consultant on the new technologies available to users, with the objective of improving the end-users productivity and taking action to accomplish this.
- Liaise with vendors and evaluate software and architecture for eventual implementation.

Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Computer Science) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

Strong working knowledge of personal computers and peripheral equipment with directly related work experience in an environment involving the technical aspects of multi-disciplined computer functions and systems.

Sound knowledge of pertinent PC hardware/software, relevant systems/applications, current office automation technology and end user documentation concepts/practices combined with a good understanding of end user support functions.

Proficiency in the use of software applications such as MS Excel, Access, Word, Visio, Project, Maximo, etc.

Proficiency in data querying using SQL would be an asset.

Demonstrated project management skills, ability to coordinate the efforts of others, and to establish and achieve goals and objectives.

Sound judgement, well developed organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking and problem solving skills; effective verbal and written communications skills.

Must have or acquire knowledge of the operation and support functions carried out by the Plant Maintenance Department and keep up-to-date with departmental business requirements and computer requirements.
