Job Description Supply Chain Director Location Mississauga, ON :
POSITION OVERVIEW The Supply Chain Director is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process for Hoya Canada, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring Hoya Canada supply chain is efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with both customer needs and company goals.
This includes managing inventory, ensuring customer service excellence, and controlling supply chain costs. The Director will be responsible for strategic planning including S\&OP process, optimization of resources, and development of processes that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and achieve cost-effective supply chain operations. The role will liaise with all manufacturing sites across Canada as well as distribution centers in Dallas.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock availability while avoiding excess and obsolete inventory.
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock turnover, minimize holding costs, and improve cash flow.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, purchasing, finance) to ensure proper forecasting, demand planning, and accurate inventory tracking.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers by aligning production schedules, inventory levels, and transportation logistics.
- Drive continuous improvements in customer service and satisfaction by ensuring product availability, order fulfillment, and proactive issue resolution.
- Implement strategies to meet or exceed customer expectations, including managing lead times and addressing customer complaints.
Supply Chain Cost Control:
- Develop and execute cost reduction strategies for the supply chain, focusing on logistics, procurement, and inventory management.
- Analyze supply chain performance metrics to identify areas of inefficiency and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners to achieve favorable pricing and terms, driving cost savings.
Supply Chain Strategy and Optimization:
- Lead the development and implementation of the overall supply chain strategy, aligning it with the company's business goals and objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions to improve supply chain operations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team, providing guidance on process improvements, technology adoption, and problem-solving.
- Foster a collaborative culture within the supply chain team, ensuring effective communication and alignment across functions.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, sales, marketing, finance) to ensure alignment and smooth flow of information across the organization.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices related to supply chain operations.
- Identify potential risks within the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and compliance requirements.
Technology and System Management:
- Leverage technology (e.g., ERP systems, supply chain management software) to optimize processes and improve visibility across the supply chain.
Continuously evaluate emerging supply chain technologies and implement solutions that drive efficiency, innovation, and cost savings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree, nice to have).
- Proven experience with 10 years of experience in supply chain management within the manufacturing industry. Experience in the optical industry would serve to be beneficial, however is not mandatory.
- Demonstrated understanding of inventory management, logistics, procurement, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with supply chain software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and experience managing supplier relationships.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS):
- Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day.
- Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards).
- Daily lifting/carrying 20 lbs. or less, pushing/pulling approximately 50 lbs. at once (moving carts of lenses between units).
