About the Institute for Community Prosperity
In April of 2015, the Institute for Community Prosperity was launched. Formerly the institute for Nonprofit Studies, "Community prosperity" refers to the conditions within which human potential flourishes. On September 25th 2015, Canada joined countries across the globe in adopting a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This is a global commitment to achieve community prosperity, that challenges not just governments, but business, civil society and academia. We believe that our task within higher education is to ensure that students have access to learning - skills, knowledge, research, and opportunities to build confidence and character - so that they can make transformative change within their communities. This means flourishing as learners, changemakers and human beings, more ready to build community, end poverty, protect the planet and create prosperity for all.
