Administrative Assistant**

The Role:
Reporting to the Manager of Community and Emergency Services, the temporary Administrative Assistant provides expert administrative support for the services provided by this team to TNRD residents. Under guidance of the Manager the Assistant provides support on department activities and operations. Activities can include correspondence, compiling supporting information, tracking, procurement and contract support, responding to public queries, reception backup coverage, general administrative and other related duties. The Assistant may attend meetings and record and transcribe minutes when necessary, and assist with event arrangements as required. This role may also assist with contracts, invoicing, and departmental service coordination work. Using exceptional administrative skills, the Assistant creates and maintains departmental documentation, such as letters and spreadsheets and maintains comprehensive filing and electronic document management systems.
This is a one year temporary full-time position.Expected to end approximately May 2026 or upon the return of the incumbent, can be shortened or extended with two weeks notice.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Certificate in business administration and a minimum of two years' recent, related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Local government experience, in particular directly related to the type of work/services provided by this department, will be given preference.

Exceptional technical skills in MS Office, including:

Word functionalityincluding mail merges, indexes, table of contents, utilizing styles, tracking changes, etc.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of PowerPoint, including creating presentations, animations, slide transitions, creating charts and diagrams, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Access or other relational database programs including entering data and running reports.
This position falls under the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 900. The placement of the Administrative Assistant is at Pay Grade 2, which is $2,086.11 to $2,404.55 biweekly.Non-benefitted staff receive a 14% additional, in lieu of benefits.
