We are seeking a Guideway Technician, Electrical for our Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will maintain, inspect, and operate 26 KV traction power stations, including all power distribution to stations, the guideway, power rail, electrical equipment, devices, pumps, and control devices to ensure safe and reliable Canada Line operation.
Location: Richmond, BC (Onsite)
Safety Critical Position:
This role is safety critical. Fitness for duty is required.
Your role:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair substation equipment, traction power supply systems, and related components.
- Maintain yard and mainline track, switches, rails, guideway structures, drainage, and fences.
- Identify safety-critical defects, implement safety measures, and report to supervisors.
- Maintain proficiency in Canada Line systems and equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage work permits, act as Person in Charge, and oversee safety during work zones.
- Escort contractors, provide safety briefings, and conduct quality inspections.
- Operate and maintain cranes and heavy equipment.
- Document inspections and work, generate work orders and defect reports.
- Troubleshoot issues, recommend repairs, and estimate job durations.
- Assist in planning and reviewing work instructions and safety documents.
- Prioritize work, assist in emergencies, and provide on-the-job training.
- Maintain tools and safety equipment, and assist with inventory management.
- Participate in commissioning and first-line response teams.
- Backfill Team Lead as needed and perform other duties.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensure the guideway's safety for train operation.
- Ensure safety of non-Guideway personnel and contractors working on the guideway.

- Compensation: $50.74/hr at Training Rate, $59.69/hr at Qualified Rate (subject to collective agreement).
The ideal candidate:
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment, pumps, fans, actuators, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience and education considered.
Requirements:
- Certified Red Seal Electrician.
- At least 5 years' experience in high-voltage electrical power supply and distribution, troubleshooting, reading electrical schematics.
- Maintain Railborne Equipment Certification.
- Shift work required (nights, weekends, holidays).
Environmental Aspects: Handling batteries and hazardous products, exposure risks.
