About the Company
Our client, a leading law firm is seeking a Labour \& Employment Legal Assistant to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, draft, revise, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, contracts, policies, and tribunal documentation.
- File and serve legal documents with courts and administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Human Rights Tribunal, and Superior Court of Justice.
- Manage lawyer calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and discovery sessions.
- Open, maintain, and close client files in accordance with firm policies and Law Society of Ontario requirements.
- Perform conflict checks and coordinate with docketing/records departments.
- Handle client communication, including intake, follow-up, and responding to general inquiries.
- Monitor deadlines, limitation periods, and hearing dates; assist in docketing and time-entry processes.
- Support billing and invoicing processes through document preparation and coordination with accounting.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employment-related matters with discretion.
Requirements:
- Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a legal assistant in labour and employment or civil litigation.
- Familiarity with Ontario labour boards, tribunals, court rules, and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and processes related to employment law.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and legal practice management software.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
