ABOUT THE ROLE
Bethany is currently accepting applications for a candidate to join us in a paid, 8-week summer position as a Recreation Therapy Assistant. The successful student will earn a salary of $18.00/hour and work 30 hours per week. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
You will report to the Recreation Therapist and will be responsible for a range of duties. You will learn about Bethany’s philosophy and processes and what it’s like to work with residents on a one-on-one basis. Your main priority will be to assist in enhancing the resident’s quality of life.
Some of these duties will include:
Assisting in therapeutic recreation programs
Assisting in animal assisted activities
Assessing and documenting the holistic needs of the residents
Assisting and supporting social programs for individual residents and small groups
Delivering compassionate care that nurtures the physical, spiritual and emotional well-being of residents, families, staff and volunteers in a setting that celebrates aging and diversity
