Based in Thunder Bay, the Survey Crew Chief will report to the Geomatics Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on supporting community development, construction, and infrastructure development in Northern Ontario. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning.
What You’ll Do:
The Survey Crew Chief will be part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team. You will:
Complete boundary surveys in residential, industrial, commercial, and remote retracement settings
Read and decipher design documents and complete basic layout calculations
Perform high-precision surveys such as: industrial layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, and GNSS static control surveys
Collect field data using traditional survey instruments such as total station and high precision levels as well as GPS field equipment
Oversee QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete
Collect terrestrial scanning data
Interact with clients while on-site
Mentor and train new field staff
Have opportunities to work on proposals, reports, and production of deliverables

Who You Are:
You have at least five (5) years of practical related work experience
You are proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting Trimble survey equipment or similar
You are comfortable with static control surveys, high-precision layout work, and 1st order levelling techniques (or are willing and able to learn)
You are willing to travel frequently for site inspections and fieldwork
You work hard, have an innovative attitude, and are adamant about honing your technical skills
You exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
What You Should Bring:
The ideal candidate will have completed a two (2) year college program in Geomatics Technology or a related program. Additionally, you should have:
High motivation with results-oriented focus
Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
A valid, Class G driver’s licence
