ROLE: Senior Financial Analyst

THE OPPORTUNITY
Venterra’s Corporate Finance team has been undergoing significant growth in its mandate and its ability to drive value across the organization. The Corporate Finance team is uniquely positioned to partner closely with Technology, Development, Investor Relations, Acquisitions, and Senior Leadership to optimize key business processes, and deliver actionable financial insights that drive significant value for Venterra.
We are looking for an independent self-starter, who highly values accountability and ownership over their work. The successful candidate is passionate about problem-solving and feels comfortable iterating through ambiguous requirements to deliver value in net new situations.
Critical to the role is the ability to demonstrate value as a business partner who delivers exceptional customer service; this position requires the ability to collaborate cross functionally to complete deliverables and drive change.
The role will report to the Director, Corporate FP&A, who will continuously challenge the candidate to lead change, identify opportunities to add value, and take on increasing levels of responsibility. As a part of the Corporate Finance team, the candidate will have a peer group to collaborate with and be challenged by on a regular basis, working closely as a team to enable Venterra’s growth strategy. Our expectation is that the Senior Financial Analyst will grow into more senior roles at Venterra and our performance driven culture will work to accelerate their career.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in compliance with GAAP / internal reporting standards.
Support the corporate close process by coordinating with accounting, FP&A, and business units to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Develop and maintain corporate reporting packages and dashboards for executive leadership and board presentations.
Provide insightful variance analysis and commentary on financial results, trends, and key performance indicators.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline reporting processes and enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
Support special projects, including system implementations, and ad hoc financial analysis.
Mentor junior analysts and support their development in financial reporting best practices.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
CPA designation required with a degree in Business, Accounting, Finance.
Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in month-end reporting and full-cycle accounting.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required i.e. ability to extract and interpret large datasets, clean data with Excel formulae, summarize data as concise actionable
Team first mentality, with a high sense of accountability and ownership over work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain finance concepts to non-finance individuals
Comfortable with leading through ambiguity and working autonomously to deliver on competing priorities.
Ability to convey complex ideas in concise and digestible ways.
Attention to detail, and discipline to build automated checks and tests for ensuring accuracy of deliverables.
Natural curiosity, and passion for digging into the details, learning new skills, and improving processes.
NICE TO HAVES
Experience with Workday, Oracle considered a strong asset.
Experience in SQL considered an asset.
Industry experience in REIT / Asset Management or Real Estate Development considered an asset.
