Fortinet is seeking a Building Operator to join our Facilities team in support of our rapidly expanding Burnaby campus. This role is critical to ensuring the day-to-day operational excellence, safety, and efficiency of our buildings and data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, respond to service calls, and assist with compliance and emergency operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
Perform daily building rounds and log readings of systems and meters.
Conduct scheduled and seasonal preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, and life safety systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and take corrective action or recommend solutions.
Monitor the performance of operationally critical systems, including Fortinet’s on-site data center.
Respond to trouble calls and emergencies during business hours and after hours (24/7 on-call rotation).
Complete minor repairs and assist with coordination and oversight of subcontractors and service providers.
Operate elevated work platforms, work at heights, and in confined spaces as needed.
Other tasks as assigned.
Compliance & Reporting
Track and schedule all maintenance tasks, including annual inspections and compliance testing.
Report system abnormalities, safety hazards, and deficiencies to the Facilities Manager.
Maintain logs and documentation for audits and internal reporting.
Ensure the facility remains in full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required
Power Engineering Certificate.
Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial building operations or property management.
Strong knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and BAS systems.
Experience with life safety systems (e.g., fire alarms, sprinklers).
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools as required.
Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot issues across various facility systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with internal clients and vendors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Comfortable working at heights, on ladders or lifts, and in confined spaces.
Detail-oriented with strong time management and documentation skills.
Working knowledge of occupational safety standards and emergency protocols.
Preferred
Building Operator certification (e.g., BOMA, BES).
Familiarity with critical infrastructure, including data centers.
Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and building science.
Experience with compliance tracking and vendor coordination.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $75,000 - $85,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
