Overview
The Neighbourhood Development and Volunteer Engagement Office is looking for a candidate to manage external partnerships and volunteer programs. The role involves collaborating with community partners, resident groups, and internal staff to deliver volunteer programs as well as appreciation and recognition initiatives. The goal is to foster a connected and thriving community where volunteers feel appreciated and supported, contributing to a more inclusive and vibrant Kitchener

Responsibilities
Plans, develops, and oversees the delivery of a wide variety of programs and appreciation events that support volunteers in neighbourhoods across the city, including but not limited to:
Volunteer Recognition and Appreciation: Includes planning, designing and implementing volunteer appreciation in a variety of forms/methods including events and other initiatives. This includes the annual Good Neighbour Summit that involves keynote speakers and an open idea exchange, as well as other activities throughout the year.
Community Garden and Winter Rink Program: Provide support to over 500+ volunteer gardeners and 150 winter rink volunteers by planning, coordinating and implementing the programs on an annual basis.
Other volunteer appreciation programs such as Kitchener In Bloom, Community Clean-up Program, corporate Volunteer Recognition activities and other initiatives.
Engages, collaborates and coordinates with residents, community partners and staff to co-design neighbourhood-based and city-wide volunteer programs, recognition events and other initiatives.
Responsible for the evaluation of volunteer programs and activities, and the collection of statistical information.
Assists staff across the corporation with the planning of new or redesigned volunteer and engagement opportunities considering a range of volunteering options.
Provides the necessary support to staff for volunteer recruitment, orientation, volunteer management and Better Impact training, and records management for new and existing volunteer engagement opportunities.
Acts as the designated back-up for the Volunteer Engagement Associate and supports an internal volunteerism committee for city staff who work with volunteers.
Anticipates and forecasts ongoing volunteering trends, needs and opportunities for the corporation to engage our community members.
Manages project/program budgets efficiently.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
2-year Diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Community Development, Social Work or Equity Studies, or another related field.
Minimum of 2 years relatable experience.
Develop, implement, and evaluate volunteer appreciation programs and recognition initiatives for diverse populations.
Design and deliver programming in a multi-use facility to meet the needs of a diverse community.
Coordinate volunteer activities, including recruiting, training, coaching, and recognition.
Action-oriented with expertise in planning, implementing, and evaluating volunteer programs.
Dedicated to enhancing volunteer appreciation and recognition through collaboration with community partners and stakeholders.
Innovative and experienced in volunteer management practices, driven by a passion for making a meaningful impact.
Creative and flexible in addressing current volunteer trends and attending to diverse populations.
Must possess a working knowledge of risk management practices, policies, and procedures for volunteer programs and initiatives.
Highly developed computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, databases, statistics, social media, etc.).
Proven organization, customer service, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proven knowledge of project management principles and procedures is an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, and facilitation skills for fostering internal and external relationships.
Ability to take direction and work cooperatively in a team environment with staff, community partners, volunteers, and the public.
Organize, prioritize, and perform work in accordance with deadlines amid distractions and competing demands.
Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
