Join our team this summer as a Summer Camp Full Day Educator with Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton and experience a rewarding and engaging seasonal role! You’ll be part of a dynamic, energetic team delivering fun, enriching programs for children during the summer months.
Position: Summer Camp Relief Staff (Contract)
Contract duration: June 9, 2025 to August 22, 2025
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Hours: 28.25 to 37.5 hours/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, shifts are scheduled between 7:00AM to 6:00PM time frame
Pay Rate per Collective Agreement (includes wage grants):
RECE: $27.94/hr
Non-RECE: $25.40/hr

Who We’re Looking For?
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with children, preferably in a childcare, camp, or educational setting is an asset
Demonstrated ability to plan and lead engaging activities and programs for children from kindergarten to school age
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members
Education:
Completion of, or enrollment in a program in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, Recreation & Leisure, Education, or a related field is preferred but not required
Certifications:
Standard First Aid with CPR level C certification
Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Proof of up-to-date immunizations for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
Skills & Competencies:
Familiarity with the Ministry of Education's How Does Learning Happen? framework is an asset
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Dedication to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment
Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead developmentally appropriate summer camp activities that reflect children’s interests and promote their social, emotional, and physical development
Ensure active supervision and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for kindergarten to school age children
Set up and organize both indoor and outdoor play areas, ensuring materials and equipment support a vibrant and welcoming camp experience
Work collaboratively with fellow camp staff and maintain positive, professional relationships with school personnel and community partners
