POSITION: FASD Key Services and Support Worker
LOCATION: Newmarket with responsibility throughout York Region
In this role, you will be working in collaboration with Children’s Treatment Network to ensure service integration for children and their families with multiple special needs.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Key Services and Support Coordinators provide services to children and youth up to the age of 18 (or 21 if still attending secondary school) and to their families. The Key Services and Support Coordinators have expertise in FASD and will assist families to access information, relevant resources, and to better understand FASD and how it may impact their child’s or youth’s abilities.
STATEMENT OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides FASD expertise, consultation and navigation of services for families and service providers
· Develops, monitors and updates a flexible plan based on assessment, strengths and needs, and the family’s vision, goals and concerns, helping to overcome barriers.
· Works to connect and coordinate services, supports and education resources for families in order to address challenges.
· Coordinates relevant services and other community supports, including health, education, youth justice, community and social services, post-secondary and employment.
· Coordinates information between relevant service providers for the person or family.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences (e.g. BSW) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in children’s services; preference given to candidates with a background in FASD
· Three-year post-secondary diploma in the social services with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in children’s services
Knowledge and Skill Level
· Experience working with individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and an awareness of impacts of FASD, relevant behavior strategies, knowledge of community resources working with FASD.
· Experience in working with families from a family centered approach and in developing integrated service plans.
· Knowledge of community and clinical issues relating to individuals with FASD or suspected FASD
· Knowledge of family systems theory and an understanding of family development
· Ability to develop co-operative relationships with clients, families, service providers, and other stakeholders
· Strong facilitation, communication, counseling, and negotiation skills
· Experience working with individuals experiencing developmental trauma
· Ability to support self-advocacy and encourage family voice and choice
· Sensitivity, understanding and ability to work with a variety of value systems, beliefs and cultures
· Knowledge of community resources and relevant legislation
· Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries
· Working knowledge of computer programs and data entry
· Working knowledge of the French Language is beneficial
· Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
· Aware of Health & Safety Rules & Regulations
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, and sufficient insurance.

Hourly Rate: $29.41-$33.09 per hour, plus, a Wellness Program & Employee Assistance Program.
