Position Overview:
The Bilingual Estimator is responsible for the review of bid/tender opportunities and their subsequent submission to customers. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately assess and deliver an estimate for traffic control services, signage and equipment associated with construction and infrastructure projects in Ontario and Quebec, ensuring competitive bids and successful project execution. You will work closely with customer project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to create a successful bid/estimate. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Bilingual Estimator is located in Ottawa in the manufacturing department while also being responsible for supporting the Quebec Region.
What you will be responsible for:
Bid and Tender Management
Effectively monitor all critical bid and tender sites to ensure the company maximizes opportunities for traffic control, traffic signs, and equipment related to construction and infrastructure projects.
Leverage internal resources for critical information to prepare bid packages, ensuring competitive and timely submissions. Submit pricing through customer bid and tender sites/portals and/or written communications with clients.
Manage and maintain a directory of suppliers and contractors to maximize bid notifications and awards. Collect and analyze historical cost data to inform current and future estimates.
Review bid and tender sites for award notifications and promptly communicate results to Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing departments for follow-up.
Project Analysis and Cost Estimation
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents applicable to traffic control, signage, and equipment to understand scope, materials, and potential challenges or opportunities.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for traffic signage, equipment, and traffic control services, considering regional pricing, market trends, and company historical data.
Perform accurate takeoffs and quantity surveys to ensure all project components are accounted for and properly cost.
Support and contribute to business-related projects as needed, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and priorities.
Stakeholders, Vendor and Subcontractor Relations
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and current information on materials and services.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders across departments and external partners such as project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure a coordinated approach and positive customer experience.

What we need from you:
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in estimating, preferably in the construction, engineering, or manufacturing industry (Required)
Fluent both verbally and written in English & French (Required)
Proven experience preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals in the province of Quebec (Required)
Familiarity with project bidding processes and procurement practices (Required)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings (Required)
Proficient with Google Suite & CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce or other) (Required)
Valid G class driver’s license and your own vehicle (Asset)
Previous experience working with custom signage (Asset)
Self-motivated, curious, and acts with intent
Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
Superior organizational and time management skills while working in a fast-paced environment
Client orientated with strong communication and relationship management abilities
