Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
The Department of Internal Medicine provides quality patient care, education and research within the region and the University of Manitoba (U of M). The Manager of Physician Services provides administrative support including HR, payroll and accounting services for Section Heads, clinician researchers, clinician scientists, and basic scientists. The Manager, Physician Services provides this function for assigned sections within the Medicine Program.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Department of Internal Medicine, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating quality improvement and policy development activities for the assigned sections. The incumbent provides managerial support for the Geographical Full-Time physicians (GFTs), PhD Scientists, Research Associates, Clinical Assistants and Research Nurses within his/her respective section(s). Responsibilities encompass human resource, accounting payroll, and project management for both the Health Sciences Centre (HSC) and University of Manitoba.
Experience
Previous management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Previous experience in physician practice management an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Completion of a university degree in management, healthcare administration or related discipline, or current enrolment in one of the above programs.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills
Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) required.
Knowledge of VIP, Aurora, FAST, OREP and SAP Financial systems preferred.
Familiarity with budget development, analysis, and maintenance required.
Proven ability to interpret and adhere to bargaining unit contracts (CUPE, MNU, MAHCP, AESES, EMAPS) and non-unionized staff (clinical assistants) is essential.
Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
Must possess excellent planning, organizational, project-and time-management skills to deal effectively and efficiently with a variety of complex issues.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Must have, or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time, a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
