About the Role:
Are you research-oriented, with strong analytical and interpretation skills? We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst (12-month term) to join our Accounting and Finance department in Calgary, Alberta.
Under the direction and leadership of the Manager, Taxation you will be responsible for a wide variety of taxation issues and financial reporting, such as the preparation and review of income tax provisions, tax returns, elections and other filings.

What You Get to Do:
Ensure compliance with all tax-related regulatory requirements, including income and commodity tax returns, withholding tax, elections and financial reporting
Prepare tax provision working papers and assist with the preparation of variance analysis and consolidated financial statement notes
Liaise with ATCO Finance personnel on tax-related matters, including monthly reporting, budget and planning
Use research, interpretation, analytical and communication skills to assist the Tax Managers and Tax Director on various tax-related projects
Communicate with internal and external auditors, including tax authorities
Understand the impact on ATCO of new legislation on the corporation
Assist with employment taxable benefit issues
Update internal control documentation and help to manage relationships with the internal controls department
Prepare and review accurate tax attribute calculations including cost bases, safe income, and surplus pools.
What You Bring:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related program
5-7 years corporate income tax experience
A professional Canadian accounting designation (CPA)
Enrolment in or desire to complete CPA Canada's in-depth income tax courses
Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with deadlines
Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Experience with preparation of tax provision and tax returns
Familiarity with TaxPrep, tax return preparation software is beneficial
Please note this is a 12-month term position.
