Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Welcomes new children and their families to the program. Ensures enrolment information is in order including medical and emergency information, dietary instructions and parental forms follow childcare licensing requirements.
Plans, carries out and evaluates developmentally appropriate and age specific activities and experiences for children using modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing techniques. Develops daily program schedules that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual and group activities.
Ensures activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Polices and Childcare Licensing Regulations
Identifies the abilities, interests and needs of children and develops individualized and group curriculum based on these. Recommends referrals or additional services for children with professionals such as behavioral therapists, occupational therapists and speech language pathologists.
Reports on progress, behaviors and other issues. Contributes to reports for children with disabilities, maintains records, care plans and statistics.
Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive guiding techniques through daily contact with children and team members.
Attends to the children’s physical needs that may include diapering, toileting, eating.
Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
Maintains a healthy and safe, culturally and developmentally appropriate environment in which the children can learn and grow. Identifies and removes potential hazards.
Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians. Communicates with families about children’s growth and development. Requests input from and participation of parents in the development of programs.
Qualifications:
Early Childhood Education Certificate with current License to Practice
Infant-Toddler Certification
Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Successful completion of agency screening process, including clear criminal record check
This position is open to all applicants
This position requires Union membership
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday
Rate of Pay: $22.92 per hour plus $6 hourly ECEWE for proof ECE license, cost shared benefits, paid vacation and sick time
