THE OPPORTUNITY
Performs, evaluates and reports all testing activities, both internal and external, for existing Galvion products as well as testing to support Galvion’s Research Development and Engineering projects. Additionally, this position is responsible to ensure that all calibration of ISO 17025 equipment and certificates thereof are maintained and recorded in accordance with
Galvion’s QC policy for ISO 17025. This position will ensure that the prioritization of the workload is followed, and testing timelines are met; results are properly verified, well documented and reported in appropriate format. Finally, this position will recommend new or modified test methodologies to improve accuracy or increase throughput.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Provide guidance and oversight to Engineering Laboratory Technician I and II, to ensure test methodology is followed per documented procedures.
Ensures that
accurate documentation and records of all test results and
proper paperwork is filed by all junior technicians.
Provides direct hands-on support in executing DOE’s (ballistic and non-ballistic) and processes validations with no supervision.
Perform duties per work instructions and training.
Complete Non-Conforming Reports as required and follows up to ensure resolution.
Ensure all necessary lab supplies and tools are stocked appropriately.
Ensure all lab equipment is appropriately maintained and calibrated.
Ensure all safety requirements for lab equipment are followed at all times.
Design and build testing jigs for standard and non-standard testing.
Ensure that all duties are performed in a timely manner consistent with applicable quality and safety guidelines and procedures.
Schedule tests as per departmental priorities.
Responsible to ensure that the laboratories are compliant with all 5S and safety best practices.
Ensure that he/she is crossed trained on all types of validation tests performed in the Galvion Laboratories.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Develop strong knowledge of all standards and specifications which relate to Galvion’s products and provide recommendations for the most applicable in a given context.
Provide summary results to the Engineering team and evaluate test results for deviations or trends that may lead to failure in the future and escalate in the form of Corrective Actions as needed.
Suggests improvements to work instructions and training and implement them if approved.
Provide recommendations for improving quality of processes and components.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
College or CEGEP degree in a technical discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5-7+ years’ experience in ballistic manufacturing and/or similar laboratory environment.
Technical background in Internal and Transition Ballistics as subfields of Ballistics, a plus.
Technical background in Impact Testing, a plus.
Ability to obtain firearms permit, for restricted and non-restricted firearms, from the Federal government is required.
Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project specifically), statistical analysis based on Probit function is a plus.
Experience with ballistic testing, loading ammunition, and the storing of weapons and ammunition, is a plus.
Position requires a fast learner, meticulous and quality conscious.
Experience with analytical test equipment is a plus.
Good bilingual (French – English) written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management skills. Must be adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities and testing schedules.
Possess creative problem solving
skill with the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 process, certification and compliance, a plus.
Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
Hearing, respiratory and eye protection required.
