Field Manager – Special Projects
Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for delivering high-quality landscape projects and developing people? We’re looking for a seasoned Field Manager – Special Projects to lead our specialized landscape installation and maintenance crews. This is a key leadership role that bridges field operations with management strategy — ideal for someone with a strong technical background and a proven ability to coach, motivate, and drive results.
What You'll Do
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of field technicians and crew leads through complex and high-visibility landscape projects.
Plan, schedule, and execute project workflows while ensuring adherence to budget, timelines, safety, and quality standards.
Monitor and report on job profitability (P&L), resource allocation, and operational performance.
Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained, and operating efficiently; complete minor repairs and coordinate major servicing.
Act as the primary liaison between the field team, clients, and management — ensuring proactive communication and issue resolution.
Conduct site inspections, lead safety meetings, and maintain proper documentation (site reports, timecards, checklists, toolbox talks).
Represent the company professionally in the field, ensuring crews uphold high standards of conduct, appearance, and customer service.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the landscape or horticulture industry, including 2+ years in a supervisory or crew leadership role.
Proven ability to manage multiple crews or job sites, including scheduling, budgeting, and conflict resolution.
Strong working knowledge of landscape installation, plant identification, fertilization, irrigation systems, and seasonal care practices.
Experience reading and executing landscape drawings and scopes of work; quoting and tendering experience a strong asset.
Proficiency with job tracking tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, payroll or reporting apps).
Demonstrated ability to lead by example, coach team members, build morale, and uphold company values in the field.
Mechanical aptitude and experience operating and maintaining landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
Knowledge of vertical green infrastructure (e.g., green walls) is an asset.
Certifications such as Red Seal, Pesticide Applicator License, or Certified Landscape Technician are strong assets.
Valid Heavy Trailer Endorsement or Class 3 license required; OFA 1 certification an asset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
80% field-based / 20% office and planning.
Must be in strong physical condition — able to lift 50+ lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Requires flexibility, a proactive mindset, and a high level of personal accountability.
Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Salary: Starting base wage of $70,000–$80,000, depending on experience
Paid Time Off:
3 weeks of vacation (prorated for the first year)
5 paid sick days available after 90 days
