OVERVIEW: As the Market Development Manager, you will be at the forefront of cultivating relationships and strategic partnerships, guiding pricing and leveraging funding opportunities and using data-driven insights to bring new solutions to the Alberta market. Drawing on the full breadth of our organization's expertise, networks, and resources, you will identify and develop new market opportunities by proactively building relationships with health leaders, disruptors, and innovators across public and private sectors. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Work directly with the Director of Corporate Strategy and Market Development to identify and formalize new market development opportunities in alignment with our Corporate Strategy. Develop and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, and champion high-impact partnership opportunities in the healthcare and health-tech sectors. Cultivate a robust pipeline of market development opportunities, utilizing industry best practices processes, and frameworks to manage pursuits and formalize partnerships. Establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare leaders, technology innovators, and private-sector partners. Guide funding strategies by identifying investment and grant opportunities that align with our strategic priorities. Collaborate with a cross-functional team to analyze market intelligence and data-driven insights, identifying opportunities to expand and grow our private business. Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of relationships with Alberta Blue Cross key stakeholders in alignment with strategic goals. Proactively engage internal teams, such as Intelligence and Market Strategy, Digital Experience, Procurement, and Legal Services, to assess feasibility, shape partnership arrangements, and establish agreements that enable piloting and developing priority market opportunities. Serve as an expert negotiator, presenting and refining proposals to achieve win/win outcomes for partners and the organization. Coordinate, organize, and/or attend work groups/project teams as required. Correspond with internal and external teams (verbal and written). WHAT YOU WILL HAVE: A bachelor’s degree in business, health administration, public policy, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of 5 years of progressively related experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or market development, preferably within the healthcare, digital health, or health-tech sectors. While not mandatory, certifications in areas such as health system leadership, business strategy, project management (e.g., PMP), or innovation management would be considered assets. Industry knowledge and expertise within the health innovation ecosystem, including digital health, health-tech, or healthcare transformation. A deep understanding of funding landscapes, including government grants, private investment, and partnership-based revenue models. Strong networking, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders. Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment. Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience representing organizations at industry events and public forums. The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external teams. A growth mindset and leadership potential, with the ability to scale and develop a team in the future. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is selected.
