This role can be based in Calgary or Edmonton The Building Assessor is part of a small nationwide team for one of JLL's key accounts. This role primarily focuses on Western Canada but may include travel across the country (70% during April-November). The position requires extensive travel to various site locations to perform building inspections and assessments. These inspections support various stakeholders, including capital planning programs, facility management, and project delivery teams on both JLL and client sides. WHAT YOU’LL DO Conduct and complete detailed building condition reports (BCR) using mobile inspection software for properties across Western Canada, with potential travel to other regions. Provide repairs/replacement recommendations for building assets and systems based on visual inspection. Interact with Facility Management staff to ascertain site information. Assist with other inspection programs such as Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) surveys. Full technical and safety training will be provided. Support all aspects of the BCR Program related to site inspections, project justifications, data quality, reporting, and program improvements. Manage all travel and expenses in a cost-effective, creative manner in compliance with JLL Travel and Expenses Policy. Perform other duties as assigned. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (Architectural, Engineering, Construction Technology, or related inspection program). 1+ years of experience in the building construction industry, performing condition assessment inspections, or equivalent is an asset. Exposure to, and understanding of, building systems/components such as HVAC, roofs, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Understanding of building materials, life cycle/replacement, and component costing. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights over 10 feet. Working at heights training will be provided. Valid driver's license with a good driving record, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to rent vehicles. Ability to travel during peak seasons (70%), with the opportunity to work from home and flexibility to plan schedule when not traveling. Well-developed judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve complex problems related to inspections. Tech-savvy! Skilled in the use of computer technologies such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, smartphone apps, inspection tools, and related software. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods; climbing, crawling, and stooping. Willingness to travel approximately 70% of the time, primarily in Western Canada, with potential for nationwide travel. Excellent communication skills in English; good communication skills in French is considered an asset. Demonstrated willingness to learn. Basic understanding of Building Code Act, Fire Code, and municipal by-laws is an asset. Police Record Check and clearance will be required at the time of offer. Candidates with French language skills will have an advantage in this position. Please note that while the main focus area for this position is the Western provinces of Canada, the role may involve travel across the entire country as needed, and Candidates with French language skills will have an advantage in this position.
