Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Director, Communications the Lead, Policy Management plays a critical role in policy development and management. The incumbent will oversee development of policy tools, training materials, and capacity-building initiatives to enhance policy development, adoption, and awareness at the college. In addition, the Lead, Policy Management will write new policies and revise existing ones in collaboration with subject matter experiences and policy owners.
In the area of policy management and communication, the Lead, Policy Management will provide expertise and guidance on policy development, legislative practices under the Post-Secondary Learning Act, and internal governance pathways to facilitate effective decision-making. The successful candidate will conduct research, facilitate clear and effective communication, and ensure sound document and information management practices and tracking of previous and new policy versions.
The Lead, Policy Management will draw from their expertise in policy writing to examine publicly available policies of other institutions in the sector, collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and distribute information needed to produce and write policies that support business processes, and carry overall responsibility for all aspects of the writing process from concept to creation, to editing and proofreading.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences Field, Humanities Field, Business)
5 years of related experience
Previous experience with policy and control procedure documentation, development, and writing
Familiarity with policy process: planning, development, consultation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
Ability to communicate effectively on unfamiliar topics to elicit technical and program information
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience in communications, planning, project management roles, ideally in a post-secondary environment is preferred
Experience with supervising a team
