SAIT’s Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We create courses and programs for life-long learning with careers at our core. Our courses range from exploring general interests to up-skilling for career advancement and reskilling for career changes. The Opportunity

You excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Leveraging your expertise in learning design, instructional design, and pedagogical theory, you apply a variety of methodologies and best practices, including Learning Experience Design (LXD), Agile, Design Thinking, User Experience (UX) Design, Gamification, Systems Thinking, Visual/Graphic Design, Digital Media, and Content Curation. With strong communication and project management skills, you consistently deliver results that meet objectives, deadlines, and budget constraints.
You are great at producing engaging, transferable experiences that reflect real-world needs and relevant workplace skills for the 21st century. You can conduct needs assessment, program design, curriculum/competency mapping, storyboarding, and quality assurance. You understand a range of delivery styles (e.g. in person, online, blended), and are comfortable working with a diverse cross-functional team, including product managers, industry partners, subject matter experts, and staff.

The Role
Learning Experience Design
Apply current theories, methodologies, and human-centred, evidence-based practices in learning design, adult education, and pedagogy to create relevant and impactful educational products for diverse audiences and delivery formats.
Conduct needs assessments, curriculum audits, gap analyses, and competency mapping.
Develop learner persona profiles, storyboard, curate content, and produce interactive learning modules using emerging tools and technologies, including AI.
Apply relevant strategies for compelling learning experiences, including storytelling, gamification, social learning, project- and scenario-based learning, etc.
Integrate principles and guidelines for accessibility, diversity, and inclusion, including UDL and WCAG standards.
Stay current with trends in learning design, digital education, and educational technology.
Leadership & Project Coordination
Lead design team members and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) throughout the development process, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and timely execution.
Plan, prioritize, and manage diverse projects, applying strong organizational and time management skills to meet project goals, requirements, and deadlines.
Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability, modeling leadership principles and upholding SAIT FIRST values (Fairness, Integrity, Respect, Safety, Transparency).
Demonstrate creativity, systems thinking, and adaptability; show initiative and sound judgment while working independently and supporting continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure quality, integrity, and alignment with best practices in accessibility, pedagogy, usability, and EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).
Apply recognized quality standards and frameworks, such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric.
Adhere to style guidelines, templates, and copyright policies.
Support ongoing review and evaluation, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.
Communication & Collaboration
Foster strong partnerships with internal and external collaborators, including subject matter experts, product managers, and design teams.
Contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture through active collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
Handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree (required).
5+ years of experience as an intermediate to senior learning designer.
Expertise in adult education, learning theory, and instructional design principles.
Strong digital literacy, including comfort with learning technologies and AI-enhanced tools.
Flexible, proactive, and solutions-focused.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Education, Learning Design, Instructional Design, e-Learning, Digital Media, or a related field.
Certification in instructional or learning experience design (e.g., LX Design, ATD, IDOL) an asset.
Hands-on experience with platforms such as D2L Brightspace, Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline), Canva, or similar tools.
Graphic/visual design, multimedia, and digital content production experience an asset.
