Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, the Senior Lead, Reliability is responsible for supporting safe and reliable operations of Teck’s physical assets in collaboration with a team of specialists. As someone with deep reliability experience and a passion for leadership, the Senior Lead will work closely with reliability and maintenance leaders at site to apply a pragmatic and disciplined approach to reliability management, and uses the strength of their team to drive improved asset performance. This role requires a dedicated people leader with detailed site experience, and the ability to drive measurable improvement in asset performance! This role is part of the Operations Excellence group, which is comprised of Asset Management, Improvement, Digital Analytics, Management Operating Systems, and Operational Readiness.

Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Lead and supervise a small technical team, made up predominantly of reliability professionals
Collaborate with reliability and maintenance leaders at Teck’s operating sites, to identify critical gaps in asset reliability and maintenance efficiency. Propose and develop mid-to-long term focused initiatives sought at supporting improvement
Work with the broader Asset Management and Operations Excellence leadership teams to prioritize and align opportunities for supporting sites and assign team resources to the accurate work
Oversee and direct the work of the team, ensuring delivery to plan, a high quality of work, collaborative solutioning, and alignment to professional standards
Maintain focus on site performance outcomes in the selection and execution of projects, ensuring that relevant performance indicators are selected and measured against. Align with site Improvement leaders to implement effective change management and to ensure benefits are sustained in the long term
Advocate for and directly support the adoption and use of Teck’s Management Operating system, through contribution to standards and guidelines for maintenance strategy and reliability management
Support emergent critical issues at site through SME input, on-site team member support, or the facilitation of 3rd party participation
Manage the team budget and forecast, ensuring spend on 3rd party technical services etc. is managed and accurately reported
Develop and maintain professional direct supervision plans for all team members who require them
Support employee performance and development through mentorship, coaching, work opportunities, and formal training
Provide subject matter expertise to Teck’s major projects and operational readiness teams, focused on maintenance strategy, staffing, infrastructure, and work process
As part of Teck’s global Operations Excellence team, this role will require international travel to Teck’s operations in North and South America, and significant time spent on-site, including at sites located at high altitude
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Alberta and British Columbia
Minimum 10 years of experience in the practice of maintenance and reliability engineering, preferably in mining, smelting, oil & gas, or chemical processing
6+ years of recent experience directly working at operational sites
Candidates with previous experience supervising technical teams are preferred
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Spanish language is highly preferred
Professional or industry accreditations may be considered an asset
Candidates must be eligible to travel internationally, particularly within Canada, the USA, Chile, and Peru, up to 25% of the time

$135,000 - $167,000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
