The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies to ensure curriculum enables student success in an engaged, face to face environment. The Subject Matter Expert is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and product strategists to create a learning atmosphere which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.
SAIT's Continuing Education & Professional Development department is looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide guidance on courses relating to Policy and Regulations in Carbon Management for our new Carbon Capture Management Program! This course area will examine the policy landscape and regulatory frameworks governing carbon management at the local, national and international levels, with a focus on compliance and governance. Our ideal candidate will have expertise in the regulatory and policy landscape, with specific experience in compliance frameworks, governance structures and policy development to support carbon management initiatives.

The Role
As a Subject Matter Expert, you will:
Provide strategic guidance and leadership for the new face to face courses.
Work collaboratively with a Product Strategist and Instructional Designers to create specific deliverables
Have availability for meetings during regular business hours
Meet all agreed upon deadlines
Be responsive with communication - within a day
Qualifications
Required:
One of: A Masters Degree in Petroleum Engineering or Petroleum Geology (preferred), a Petroleum Engineering or Petroleum Geology Technology Diploma or Degree (or equivalent)
2+ years of relevant industry experience
Expertise in the regulatory and policy landscape that governs carbon management at the local, national, and international levels
Experience in compliance frameworks, governance structures and policy development to support carbon management initiatives
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
Comfortable speaking to the public
Positive & respectful attitude
Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
Excellent communication skills
Ability to organize and present written information
Desired:
Previous experience with curriculum development or instructional design projects
Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom)
Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset)
Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals
Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching considered an asset
Formal training in online technologies considered an asset
Ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills and works well collaborating with teams
